What to expect at the conference…
Keynote Speaker – Deborah Rodriguez, Author of A Cup of Friendship
Be inspired by the CWA’s 2012 keynote speaker! Deborah Rodriguez is a wife, mother, philanthropist and author of “Kabul Beauty School“, which tells the story of her involvement in opening a beauty school in the middle of Kabul, Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban. Her second book “A Cup of Friendship” is a fictional account about an American woman running a coffee shop in Kabul. Deborah’s mission was to create a sanctuary for women in the midst of an extremely male-driven society. In her shop, women were free to “…let their hair down – quite literally…” and create lifelong friendships. In this safe space, they were able to be themselves and talk about anything, even if it was culturally forbidden.
Deborah’s hope is to “serve as an inspiration to others to go out and make a difference”. She has shared her story and that of her friends, the amazing Afghan women she describes in her books, through various speaking engagements in the United States and around the world. She believes in the power of education and that through it – change is possible.
Master of Ceremonies – Jaclyn Vocell
Jaclyn L. Vocell is a nationally recognized women’s life coach, motivational speaker, business and sports team life coach and leader, who empowers women and teams across the United States to live in victory. Jaclyn delivers a message that ALL women need to hear… “You are WORTHY” in all aspects of your life.
